I have always been a big fan of technology and everything related to strong points of innovation. My philosophy on this matter is that a world without innovation is destined to perish. It is in this sense that the projects I have worked on almost always had a feature aimed at improving some aspect of the user experience (cf. Movie Ticket App and the ticket-sharing function).

My observation of the Cameroonian digital environment has allowed me to discover true change-makers in the lives of people. Like the Astro-Fast application, which allows users to book bus tickets from the comfort of their homes. This undoubtedly represents a real relief for many.
I decided to download and use the application myself, however, I noted several points for potential improvement to make Astro-Fast more enjoyable to use:
Visually: The application lacks coherence in terms of typography, buttons, and the overall layout.
Interaction: There is very little fluidity in page transitions, and especially no visible animations.
UX Writing: The tone used is not consistent. There is a misuse of verbs and words.
I then decided to make some improvements on the UI based on the observations I had made.
I chose a mix of vibrant and soft colors to create balance and maintain a visually appealing experience, including shades ranging from pink to a deep blue.
The iconography was streamlined and made more user-friendly by incorporating principles from Google's Material Design framework. This approach ensured that the icons were clean, intuitive, and consistent with modern design standards, enhancing the overall user experience.
The typography features the Poppins font, with sizes set at 30px, 15px, 12px, and 10px. This font choice provides a modern and cohesive look across various text elements, enhancing readability and visual consistency throughout the design.
The navigation bar includes additional menu options to enhance browsing convenience. Users can seamlessly navigate from "Home" to "Trips" and "More". Additionally, I've added a special "Game" feature, allowing users to pass the time while waiting for the bus and explore additional functionalities with ease.
In this new interface design, two button sizes were utilized: 362px x 42px and 252px x 42px. This strategic choice optimizes user interaction, with larger buttons (362 x 42) drawing attention to primary actions, while smaller buttons (252 x 42) complement secondary functions, enhancing overall usability and navigation experience.
In further detail, the home screen consists of the following components. Utilizing insights from user travel patterns, the "Today's Trip" feature showcases immediate departures from the user's current city, determined by GPS, to their usual destination.

So, this concludes my envisioning of the potential redesign for the Astro-Fast app, aimed at enhancing the user experience. By implementing this design, we aim to alleviate the frustration often encountered when navigating through an app to purchase a bus ticket. Moving forward, I advocate for prioritizing user testing to gather valuable feedback and further refine the app's usability, ensuring an optimal experience for all users.
